Pre-registration has been opened for a while now and there is likely to be another stellar turnout when the second event of the 2014 World Series kicks off in Vegas, which is a four day event of no limit hold’em poker in the mixed max format. While the buy-in of $25,000 is likely to draw only the most elite players from around the globe, there is plenty of intrigue in the other three events that will be staged before the month of May draws to a close, as the much smaller and more convenient buy-ins of just $1000 and $1500 will bring in both newcomers and chancers alike.
If that is still too much however, you can stick to online play. Poker and online slots from 32Red, for example can be a great way to perfect your skills as well as giving you the opportunity to play for real cash in the comfort of your own home. Both newcomers and seasoned poker players alike can take advantage of online promotions with a £10 no deposit bonus when you join 32Red.
As the event calendar shows, four of the opening five events are staged across the last few days of May, so it makes for an action-packed start to the season for poker players at the Rio All-Suite. Buy-ins can be performed up to just hours before the start of the events should you suffer a late, burning desire to show off you poker skills and all you have to do is go to the Rio Convention centre registration desk to get yourself involved in the action.
With one of the most notable events on the calendar, the ‘Millionaire Maker’, scheduled for May 31st, it is entirely possible that we could see a fresh face scoop the jackpot prize given the minimal entry of just $1500 for the three day event. The winner will walk away with approximately 666-times their original investment into the tournament, with a guaranteed $1,000,000 pay-out, although last year’s 6,343 entries ensured the winner walked away with an extra $198,780 on top of that million dollar guarantee. The total prize pool surmounted $8.5million, so this year’s event has its work cut out if it wants to supersede it’s predecessor.
Just six days later, on June 6th, sees the action cater to the more experienced players in Vegas, as the Seniors No-Limit Hold’em Championship comes to town. With a buy-in of just $1000 and a minimum age requirement of 50, there is likely to be no shortage of action in event 17 of the calendar for the 2014 Poker series, as the players will likely be no strangers to a bluff or two with their cards.
As the year begins to slowly turn towards the poker season once more, it will be interesting to see if any nation can breed a generation of poker stars that will upstage the Americans, who took 41 bracelets and over $135,000,000 in winnings from the 2013 season. It’s safe to say, the pressure is most certainly on come May.
